Purpose

This option Chute for Life! will now create the possible opportunity for a trapped person in a high-rise building or hotel suite, which is on fire with exits & stairs blocked, to jump to safety; by means of a low-distance, rapid-use BASE para-glider. It will also allow the person to cover themselves with fire resistant gloves, mask, and a poncho, if there is a way to exit via stairwell. Hand-cranked flashlight on a luminous lanyard provides light, in need. The glass breaking axe-hammer provides ability to break the window, allowing a distressed person to jump to safety. Opening the satchel activates a GPS beacon, when attached to their fire gear or para-glider by a snap-hook, relays to Emergency Responders of the distressed person’s location. A foiled water pouch and freeze-dried energy bar, if confined.

The Problem

When a high-rise building or hotel suite catches on fire, it usually becomes electrically disabled. This renders elevators useless - stairwells too - as they are often blocked by the flames.

The Solution

…But now there’s Chute for Life!

Story Behind the Invention

Story Behind the Invention

Inventor Carole Brosso of Maryland has created a safety unit containing survival and evacuation aids. This lifesaving innovation will allow you to jump for safety… thereby giving you a choice, a chance, and a shot at survival.

When 9/11 occurred, Carole was troubled by the lack of choices people had to survive. It was either burning or jumping to their death. As a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, she knew many externs and alumni who found employment at the famed Windows on the World restaurant in the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Upon graduating, Carole had to decide whether to move to Manhattan or Boston. She ended up choosing Boston, but if she had taken the NYC path, her life could have easily led her to the World Trade Center on that fated day. With our world becoming more globally tumultuous and uncertain, she just knew there had to be another option for survival. In turn, she developed Chute for Life!

A distressed person will now be able to cover themselves with fire resistant gloves, mask, and a poncho, if there is a way to exit via stairwell. The safety unit also contains a low-distance rapid-use BASE paraglider, hand-cranked flashlight with glow-in-the-dark lanyard, a glass breaking axe-hammer, plus foiled water pouch and energy bar. The entirety is stored in a fire-resistant satchel, linked by attachable beacon and GPS to an emergency response team able to monitor your location.
